It enables the users to check all the parameters set on the stereotactic system and provides a realistic simulation of the intervention on the patients. Precision without compromise

The inomed target point simulator enables the verification of target coordinates and the setting of all inomed stereotactic systems. The target point simulator is used intraoperatively in the sterile field. Before attaching the stereotactic aiming bow to the patient ring, the settings are checked on the target point simulator.

A metal rod with a precisely defined tip can be moved along the X-, Y- and Z-axes using three smooth-running thumb screws. The tip of the rod corresponds to the target point in the patient’s brain, which was determined by the medical team's patient-specific planning of the stereo­tactic intervention.

An aluminium ring is attached to the target point simulator, simulating the corresponding head ring that is attached to the patient's head. This ring can either replicate the circular titanium ring or the slightly oval ceramic ring. All inomed target bow units, such as the SUSy, ZD and RM system, can be mounted on these rings. The inomed target point simulator is therefore compatible with all inomed sterotactic systems and enables precise simulation of the patient situation using the phantom.

High patient safety
Despite the generally quite simple target point setting, an additional check on the phantom is always recommended. Any errors that may have occurred when setting the coordinates on the aiming bow or curved/bent instruments can be recognised and rectified immediately on the phantom. The phantom is therefore the final authority for avoiding stereotactic errors before starting the intervention on the patients. The use of the phantom can increase patients safety during neurosurgical procedures.

How can the target point simulator be integrated into the surgical workflow?

The target and trepanation point coordinates are defined on the basis of the X-ray, CT and MRI images and converted into stereotactic coordinates using a planning software such as the inomed Planning System (iPS). With the inomed stereo­tactic systems, the coordinates obtained in this way can now be set directly on the aiming bow carriage. The prepared stereotactic system is then mounted on the target point simulator ring. The ring on the target point simulator imitates the ring on the patient’s head.

Which head ring units can the target point simulator be combined with?

The inomed target point simulator (phantom) can be combined with all inomed head ring units, whether titanium ring or ceramic ring.

Which stereotactic systems is the target point simulator compatible with?

The target point simulator is compatible with all inomed stereotactic systems: SUSyRM stereotactic system and ZD stereotactic system.
