Using cryoanalgesia to “freeze” the nerve

Our cryo device, the C3 CryoSystem, plays a special role in the treatment of chronic pain. The effect of cold has been used to treat pain since ancient times. Cryoanalgesia has thus been able to establish itself as a modern method in minimally invasive pain treatment and is well accepted by patients.

“Freeze” the nerve
The basic principle of cryoanalgesia is to precisely localise the affected nerve using an imaging technique and electrical stimulation. This is followed by freezing for two to three minutes. The application of extreme cold to the nerve pathways causes second-degree damage or axonotmesis (severing of the axon), but the connective tissue remains intact and enables the nerve to regenerate. The C3 CryoSystem uses either CO₂ with a boiling point of -79 °C or N₂O with a boiling point of -89 °C.
The nerve is precisely localised by electrical stimulation and then treated with freezing.

The C3 CryoSystem is a state-of-the-art cryo device with an electric stimulator that has been specially designed for use in cryoanalgesia. To ensure that the cryo application is performed optimally, all relevant parameters are automatically controlled by the system. The system is equipped with a clear screen that enables intuitive and easy operation. The C3 CryoSystem offers the option of comprehensively documenting the entire cryoanalgesia procedure in the integrated patient management system.
