Intuitive lesion generator especially for sEEG thermocoagulation

The device has a graphic real-time display of the output power and impedance during sEEG thermocoagulation. Audio impedance provides real-time audio feedback of impedance changes, which can be used, for example, to orientate oneself acoustically based on impedance changes when passing through different brain structures (such as white and grey matter).

An RF generator for pain and brain applications
The inomed product family of lesion generators includes radiofrequency generators for thermo­lesion. These devices have been specially developed for a wide range of pain treatments and for brain lesions in functional neurosurgical applications. The LG2-sEEG model offers two output sockets: one for pain and brain applications with a monopolar or bipolar TC electrode and another specially designed for sEEG applications.

The versatile RF generator can be used in many different modes and with various instruments: for brain lesioning in temperature- and power-controlled mode as well as for the most common pain applications. Monopolar or bipolar pain and brain electrodes can be connected to the front socket.

sEEG thermocoagulation
The sEEG electrodes are connected to the generator to generate thermocoagulations using the pre-implanted electrodes. Neighbouring electrode contacts are selected via the touch­screen on the device and the defined contacts are also displayed on the sEEG Box. The RF output power can be set manually using the buttons on the device or automatically.
In combination with the sEEG Box, it is possible to perform thermo­coagulation using certified sEEG electrodes.
Functions of the LG2-sEEG RF Lesion Generator

  • Continuous thermal radiofrequency modes (mainly for brain applications):
    (1) standard temperature-controlled RF,
    (2) stepwise temperature-controlled RF or
    (3) power-controlled RF
  • Pulsed radiofrequency modes (mainly used in pain treatment):
    (1) voltage-controlled pulsed RF,
    (2) pulse width-controlled pulsed RF or
    (3) temperature-controlled pulsed RF
  • Direct nerve stimulation modes for localising motor and sensory nerves:
    (1) constant current control or
    (2) constant voltage control
