The ISIS MER complete system includes a wide­screen monitor with an easy-to-clean surface and optional touchscreen function. The monitor is height-adjustable, rotatable and ensures an optimal view from different angles. In addition, the system has a powerful loudspeaker system that supports the acoustic interpretation of the recording signals during MER. A laser printer for outputting the recording signals facilitates documentation in the patient record. Large drawers ensure that accessories are always to hand.

In addition to the large version, the ISIS MER system compact is also available, which is a space-saving alternative. Thanks to the compact design of our Headbox modules, all three versions can be additionally equipped with up to two modules of the ISIS Headbox EMG for electromyography. This allows for parallel recording of EMG or EEG signals, and, in combination with our inomed LFP adaptor, the recording of up to five LFP channels.

The ISIS MER system portable combines all the required Headbox modules in one compact case: the ISIS Headbox MER and the ISIS Headbox EMG. The equipment is complemented by a powerful notebook with a medical power supply. In addition, the case offers enough space to easily store the high-precision inomed MicroDrive together with the sterilisation tray. This makes the ISIS MER system portable a powerful, portable workstation that is ideal for use in the operating theatre.

The blue ISIS Headbox EMG offers the hardware solution for recording electromyography (EMG) signals. It offers eight differential amplifier inputs and can be used in combination with the ISIS MER systems. This enables users to record EMG signals simultaneously. The use of two blue Headboxes even allows the recording of 16 EMG signals.

With the ISIS LFP module, it is possible to measure local field potentials (LFP) for up to five channels in parallel with microelectrode recording. The local field potential is the extracellular signal that is formed by the superposition of the activity of individual cells in a group. In contrast to the MER signal, the LFP signal consists of low-frequency signals and is usually analysed in the frequency spectrum.

The specially developed, autoclavable connecting cable ensures the usual easy connectivity of the electrodes. The inomed MicroMacro electrodes are required to use the LFP module. In addition, the ISIS LFP module has two channels that can be used to record EMG or EEG signals. Optionally, a second ISIS Headbox EMG can be connected to provide a further eight channels for additional EMG measurements.

Intraoperative MER supports target localisation in stereotactic surgery by recording the electrical activity of individual neurons of the target structure. On the basis of these recordings, users can see which neuronal areas the electrode passes through. For final verification of the target area as a potential implantation site, a test stimulation is performed that simulates the DBS implant and thus offers additional safety. These two steps ultimately make a decisive contribution to the therapeutic success of the procedure.

FAQ

How do I switch between recording and stimulation with the ISIS MER systems?

Thanks to the intelligent arrangement of the recording and stimulation contact, only one plug connection per electrode is required for MER when using the inomed MicroMacro electrode. It is very easy to switch between recording and stimulation in the software, there is no need to swap cables.

Is it possible to record electromyography signals in parallel?

Yes, the ISIS MER systems can easily be equipped with up to two additional ISIS Headbox EMG modules for electromyo­graphy. This expands the option for parallel recording of up to 16 EMG or EEG signals.

Is it possible to record local field potentials (LFP) in parallel?

Yes, with the ISIS LFP module it is possible to measure LFP for up to five channels in parallel to the MER recording. The inomed MicroMacro electrodes are required for this. The module also has two additional channels that can be used to record EMG signals.
