The VIVA RF Systems can be equipped with a wide range of accessories. It is important to select the right radiofrequency electrode for each application. The sharpness of the electrodes enables precise handling during application. Over 90 clinical references have been published with STARmed electrodes. These confirm the success of radiofrequency ablation.

VIVA RF Electrode_V2Radiofrequency electrodes in the VIVA II series offer maximum flexibility during applications thanks to the adjustable length of the active tip. The active tip can be adjusted over a length of 5 mm to 30 mm using a slider. The VIVA II electrodes are suitable for all radiofrequency applications.

The RFA electrodes from STARmed are precise and characterised by their exceptional sharpness and internal cooling. They are available in monopolar and bipolar versions. Sharpened electrode tips
Thanks to their extreme sharpness, the STARmed electrode tips ensure exceptional guidance during the procedure. Their precise tip geometry enables gentle and effective RFA. This also means that it is not necessary to make an additional skin incision with a scalpel in order to insert the electrode subcutaneously. STARmed electrodes are a valuable addition for medical professionals striving for excellence in RFA procedures.

Internal electrode cooling
All STARmed electrodes are equipped with a cooling system. This ensures reliable handling in all application fields. The cooling system makes it possible to achieve not only a large but also a linear spread of the ablation zone. Cooling limits the tissue temperature so that necrosis but not carbonisation occurs in the tissue. This enables the body's immune system to break down the dead tissue.
The internal cooling of all STARmed electrodes results in a balanced ablation zone and temperature regulation.

Monopolar & bipolar
The many different 1-channel STARmed electrodes are all compatible with the 1-channel VIVA RF System. Both bipolar and monopolar ablations are possible. The monopolar technology requires the current to be fed back via neutral electrodes, which are included with the electrodes. The various electrodes are available with diameters between 15G and 19G and shaft lengths between 7 cm and 30 cm. This makes them suitable for a wide range of applications.
The VIVA RF System is compatible with both monopolar and bipolar STARmed electrodes. These are characterised by their exceptionally sharp electrode tip.

Are the STARmed electrodes internally cooled?

Yes, all STARmed electrodes in all sizes are internally cooled right up to the tip. The cooling circuit is driven by a peristaltic pump.

Are the monopolar electrodes also delivered with neutral counter electrodes?

Yes, two dispersion electrodes are included with each monopolar electrode.

How do I know how much power I need to set on the generator?

The size of the ablation zone depends on the length of the active tip and the power setting on the generator. For each length of the active tip, there are predefined power specifications.
