inomed Medizintechnik GmbH develops, manufactures and distributes medical technology products in three business areas: Intraoperative Neuromonitoring, Functional Neurosurgery and Pain Treatment. For more than three decades, inomed devices have been helping to improve treatments and increase patient safety.  The inomed group has over 400 employees, ten subsidiaries and a large network of trained distributors in more than 100 countries.


inomed was founded in 1991 by Rudi Mattmüller and Dieter Mussler and launched the first nerve monitoring system at that time. Today, inomed devices are used in over 5,000 hospitals in 100 countries worldwide, ensuring patient safety and supporting doctors in around 500,000 operations every year.

Change of management & foundation of a subsidiary in Canada
inomed was founded in 1991 by Rudi Mattmüller and Dieter Mussler. Dieter Mussler leaves the company in 2022. Rudi Mattmüller, who passed away after a serious illness, leaves inomed in 2023. At an early stage, Mariusz Gruchala and Jörg Wipfler, two long-term employees and experts in medical technology, were brought into the management and have been leading inomed in the interest of its founders since 2023.

Driven by the idea of developing innovative solutions for protecting nerves during surgery, Rudi Mattmüller and Dieter Mussler founded the company on 11 November 1991.

From a two-man operation to a global player

inomed was founded on 11 November 1991 by Rudi Mattmüller and Dieter Mussler in Teningen near Freiburg. In 1991, inomed started developing stimulation probes to identify and protect the facial nerve. This allows facial expressions and motor skills to be maintained during difficult ENT and neurosurgical procedures. inomed laid the foundation for further success in 1995. 
For more than three decades, Rudi Mattmüller shaped the daily work of all employees with his entrepreneurial vision, his sense for opportunities and his own high level of commitment as a role model. Due to his friendly nature and professional expertise, our company founder and CEO was respected and appreciated by everyone.
On 22 May 2023, Rudi Mattmüller passed away unexpectedly after a serious illness at the age of 67. With the death of Rudi Mattmüller, we lose a person to whom we owe a great deal. At an early stage, he brought Mariusz Gruchala and Jörg Wipfler, two long-term employees and experts in medical technology, into the management, who continue to lead inomed in his interest.
