AEP USB Module
The AEP USB Module is equipped with a 4 channel differential amplifier and a 2 channel acoustic stimulator. Thanks to an USB 2.0 connection to PC the module is always ready for high quality intraoperative applications.
Function
The AEP USB Module is a complete unit for stimulation and recording acoustic evoked potentials (AEP) over a medical approved PC.
Continuous AEP are triggered via a special acoustic stimulator in defined intervals. Different stimulation forms are possible and can be triggered externally. AEP are recorded via a high quality bio signal amplifier in the AEP USB Module. Afterwards the signal can be displayed in a computer via USB connection. Only three connections are required: acoustic stimulator, recording of AEP and a USB connection. Additional voltage supply is not necessary.
Handling
Handling and evaluation occur thanks to a special software, developed by inomed (NeuroExplorer). Installation is made on a medical approved PC (with mains isolating unit) with Windows 2000/XP.
The AEP USB Module doesn't require any additional driver as it is automatically installed.
The module is designed to be operated in the patient environment. Its compact design enables a placement direct at the patient table.
Applications
- ENT: Monitoring of the facial nerve during parotid surgery, monitoring of the cranial and auditory nerves during removal of acoustic neurinoma
- Neurosurgery: cranial nerve monitoring during skull base surgery, SEP and MEP during aneurysm surgery and during interventions at the brain stemm, phase reversal and cortical mapping during central tumor and epilepsy surgery
