Accessories for Neurosurgery
inomed manufactures a wide range of different electrodes for applications like thermo-lesioning, micro recording and macro test stimulation. Combined electrodes for multiple applications are our special feature, as for example, our combined bipolar electrode for all three applications, but also electrodes for micro recording and macro test stimulation:
MicroMacro Electrodes
The inomed MacroElectrode is used to identify the anatomical target point by selective test stimulation. The electrode is 300 mm long with a diameter of 0.8 mm.
The length of the active tip is 1 mm. The effect of the stimulation with a MacroElectrode is comparable with the effect of a stimulation with a DBS-electrode.
The combined MicroMacroElectrode has been designed for electrophysiological determination of the anatomical target point during functional neurosurgery. The 300 mm long electrode has an outer diameter of 0.8 mm. The tip has a diameter of approx. 4 µm and it has been designed for single cell recording.
The electrode is delivered sterile with a protection tube covering the micro tip.
The distance between the micro tip and the MacroElectrode is fixed to 1 mm. The low electrode capacity allows a maximum of spike amplitudes to be recorded. The result is an excellent signal noise ratio.
inomed Micro Move IMM
The inomed Micro Move (IMM) is a combined electrode for a precise electrophysiological localisation of an anatomical target point during interventions in functional neurosurgery. Its shaft has an outer diameter of only 0.6 mm, the wire of the micro tip has a diameter of only 0.28 mm.
The electrode has a moveable micro tip designed for single cell recording with a very high signal to noise ratio. The electrode is delivered sterile. The moveable micro tip guarantees the smallest possible displacement of tissue. With an impedance of about 1 MOhm, the electrode can be used with the most common recording systems.
Combined Bipolar Straight Electrode
With this combined electrode it is possible to do macro test stimulation, with the same dimensions like the DBS electrode®. It has a lumen through which a micro electrode for micro electrode recording can be inserted.
As third possibility, a thermo probe can be inserted to make thermo coagulations. The electrode is compatible with all common lesion generators.
TC Electrodes
TC Electrodes are electrodes with integrated temperature sensor and are used for temperature controlled high frequency thermo coagulation in the brain.
They are available in various lengths, bipolar or monopolar for different stereotactic devices and are compatible with all lesion generatores in use.
