OP Planning in virtual reality

Dextroscope is an interactive console allowing the user to interact intuitively, comfortably and easily with the 3D graphics. It is designed as a personal planning system, although it also allows collaborative work as a small team of people can view the data simultaneously.

Dextroscope allows surgical planning and evaluation at a level previously only imagined, by giving you an unprecedented, deeper understanding of complex anatomical relationships and pathology.

Now you can:

  • Interact with true 3D volumetric objects—easily and intuitively
  • Determine exactly what you're getting into and how to get there — before you operate
  • Redefine communication and collaboration by facilitating surgical and interventional planning, referral, documentation, and review

Reach into virtual space with both hands, unconstrained by the limitations of a keyboard and mouse. Your hands and the virtual 3D image are co-located in the same position in real time. Use virtual tools to manipulate the axial, coronal, and sagittal planes, any oblique plane, or any displayed volume, individually or simultaneously—it's your choice.

The Dextroscope 6D controller and stylus are a natural extension of your hands—giving you the ability to interact with and manipulate the volumetric images with precision and dexterity.

The intuitive Dextroscope user interface allows you to:

  • Examine detailed volumetric data rapidly and efficiently
  • Visualize complex anatomic relationships and pathology in stereoscopic 3D
  • Determine your surgical approach
  • Optimize decision-making ability
  • Increase surgical confidence
  • Anticipate and plan for possible complications

Customize Dextroscope viewing to your needs:

  • The intuitive virtual control panel allows you to adjust the display of individual objects for optimal visualization—quickly and easily.
  • Expert mode gives you total control of imaging data and display.
  • Color customization and transparency mapping lets you reproduce the translucency of a bony structure to get a sense of what lies beneath.

Dextroscope sets a new mark for radiologists, surgeons, and referring physicians to communicate and collaborate efficiently.

PACS connectivity and DICOM network functions simplify image acquisition. Stereoscopic playback and video export capabilities, such as digital movie recording, streamline the sharing of information for consultation and educational purposes.

Dextroscope can also be an invaluable tool for teaching both basic anatomy and advanced surgical techniques. Residents and fellows can observe the actual surgery, and then practice their own approach over and over again. Even experienced surgeons who might be attempting new and unfamiliar procedures will benefit from the rehearsal capabilities.
